As the wheels of realignment continue to turn, rivalries continue to get torn apart and reborn. And I’ve seen a LOT of people who seem to not want to be in the same conference as their primarily rivals, even if that means not playing regularly, and I don’t get it. Why was Texas A&M against Texas moving to the SEC? Why don’t Florida fans want FSU or Miami to join up? Why do Utah and BYU want to be in different conferences?

What’s the point of having rivals if you don’t play them every year? If Oregon ends up in a different conference than Oregon State or Washington, I will be supremely disappointed. So what gives?
