TLDR; What apps are there out there that I can:
- List all the items/object I own
- Accompany the listed item with a photo
- Organize the list(s) into categories.
- Use on Linux
What are the best, if any, computer apps for organizing a list of the items that you own? I’ve been searching online and can’t find anything. It makes sense because what I’m specifically trying to achieve is something I imagine hardly anybody even caring to do for themselves; I think I’m completely alone in this specific listing endeavour of mine.
Preferably, I would want to be able to, with the app, make a list of all the individual items I own, and make my own custom lists too, and would be able to pair the listed items with a photo of my choosing.
Why do I want to do this? As arbitrary of a thing to do as it may seem, to photograph the majority of things I physically own; I’m doing it for the same reason that people create lists to keep track of all the books, videogames and films they own: I just want to keep track of it all; namely, childhood items and toys etc., that when I get rid of, will one day be completely forgotten about. I think having a list of the items you own, and the items you used to own makes it much easier to let go of them knowing you’ll never see them again. And hey, It’s just nice to be able to look back on the stuff for memory’s sake whenever you need to. That’s my justification for wanting to do something as time-consuming as this anyway. And by no means am I a hoarder of such things or overly attached to them. I get rid of the things I don’t need because I have to, and I know that by the time I forget about them, they don’t mean anything to me anymore anyway (because I don’t know they even existed). But it’s just easing to know that I can still at least see a clear photo of the thing years down the track for both sentimental reasons and simply seeing what I used to own out of pure curiosity.
Enough rambling though (sorry):
I would make an app like this for myself if I knew how to code or had any idea about app-development; but like probably most of you, I don’t have that skillset, and can’t do that. So, I just have to hope I can find an app for doing this. That’s why I’m asking here. Thanks.
