Attorneys Brad Beckworth and Nathan Hall provided a statement to The Athletic accusing the NCAA of unfairly targeting Stalions and former Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh. Stalions’ lawyers argue there’s “no rule” against the family of the former Michigan employee receiving film from family members who attended games with tickets that Stalions had purchased.
They argue that Stalions’ only scouting of future opponents occurred on Michigan’s campus on his personal computer — like any other analyst around the country would prepare for a game.
“This investigation has been a witch hunt from day one intended to besmirch Michigan and Coach (Jim) Harbaugh,” the statement to The Athletic said, in part. “Connor is a scapegoat in the NCAA’s ongoing quest to show that it has a purpose in today’s sports world.”
