What TV shows do you think don’t get enough appreciation for some of their best qualities? E.g. acting, storytelling, cinematography, innovation etc.

I’ve been rewatching How I Met Your Mother and although I understand the complaints about the finale, and it being heavily immersed in some of the worst aspects of 00s lad culture, I feel those failings mean it doesn’t get enough credit for the complexity and innovation in its storytelling. It’s far from a perfect show, but in a way I think it bridged the gap between classic three-cam sitcoms and modern “prestige” sitcoms.

Almost every episode plays with the medium in some way, be it unreliable narration, perspective, time, reality vs expectation, flashbacks/forwards, running gags/callbacks, long term storytelling, pop culture references etc. i also think its main characters act a lot more realistically as friends (actually laughing at jokes, remembering previous events etc) than a lot of sitcoms.

What TV show do you think doesn’t get the recognition it deserves for the ways it employs or advances the medium of television? Or simply for being better than it’s remembered as?
