Division I Football Imperialism Map - Preseason
A little Game Day Eve surprise!
I’ve always wanted to make this map and I finally finished it. This is a combination map including all FBS and FCS teams.
All the same rules apply except FBS wins over FCS teams actually count this time. DII, DIII & NAIA team wins over FCS teams will also count, so small schools have a chance to get onto this map just like the FCS map.
One unfortunate aspect of this map, Rice and San Diego do not have any land to start. Both teams’ stadiums are not the closest DI team to the midpoint of any county. I’ve seen this handled the same way with the DI Basketball Imperialism Map, so I figure it’s alright to do it this way.
So, here are the Top 5 by Land:
- Washington - 596,158 sq mi (yes Alaska is still on the map)
- Montana State - 125,605.6 sq mi
- Wyoming - 83,930.8 sq mi
- New Mexico - 77,291.4 sq mi
- Texas Tech - 75,648.7 sq mi
Top 5 by Population:
- UCLA - 10,882,600
- Northwestern - 8,799,281
- Wagner - 7,241,144
- Washington - 6,492,122
- South Florida - 6,080,251
Games in Week 0 (rankings by land):
- #2 Montana State at #4 New Mexico
- #9 Nevada vs #147 SMU
- #71 Florida State vs #229 Georgia Tech
- #75 Tarleton vs #135 McNeese
- #86 North Alabama vs #103 Southeast Missouri
- #131 Florida A&M vs #200 Norfolk State
- #167 Hawai’i vs #179 Delaware State
