I work in a rural village in Latin America, and a student came to me today to tell me that she had unprotected sex and doesn’t know what to do. I went right into big sister mode and called around looking for the morning after pill (found it!) I told my boss what’s going on, but just as a courtesy. I’m doing this with or without her support. She only responded that I could get in big trouble for this (not with her, but with the parents and the principal). But I don’t give a fuck. Would they rather a 14 year old with dreams of being a lawyer wind up pregnant and forced to drop out of school?? I’m so fucking disgusted by people’s priorities. If I lose my job, so be it. At least I’ll know I did the right thing.
