I’ve noticed in the (HBO) Max app that this show no longer gets featured in the continue watching. If it does show up, it’s always the wrong episode with the timeline starting at the end of it, even though I routinely watch it all the way through the credits.

I haven’t had this problem with other shows. House of the Dragon always has the new episode ready to go. With Last Week Tonight I have to go look for it and navigate to the latest episode.

Then recently the show tweeted that they are off air for a while and seemed to imply it was unexpected

We’ve got a new episode tonight at 11pm! Then, sadly, we’re off until Sept 8th. We begged the network to let us make more shows. We said “please, John has no idea how to take a vacation, you should see him try to sit on a beach, it’s humiliating, just let him work.” But no dice.

I imagine they inherited whatever deal was signed, but I get the feeling they don’t want this show around anymore. I think they also put restrictions on when they can publish to YouTube because it seems like it takes longer for episodes to go up there, and they removed the older seasons entirely from Max a while ago (though they’re up on YouTube).

Basically it feels like they have a huge hit on their hands and are doing everything they legally can do to stop people from watching it.
