You may remember my post from ~two years ago~ detailing how to see every single Power Five team live in one season, but as a reminder the rules are:

  • “Attending” a game means being inside the stadium and being seated, and watching at least one play.
  • Lots of games have no posted times yet. In those instances I presume the worst possible scenario, i.e., whoever scheduled the games did so specifically to try to make the experiment fail. Realistically, looking at my past experiment, the networks tend not to actually do this.
  • Games are presumed to last four hours.
  • The travel time is whatever is provided by Google Maps at whatever time I happened to check the distances, rounded to five minutes. Realistically, you would have to find parking, and traffic would be worse around game time, etc. But hey, this is all for fun!
  • Obligatory “do not try this at home or away” warning. But the travel times are all realistic. Assuming one sleeps before a Friday night kick, there’s never a need to stay up more than 24 hours.
  • The earliest possible kickoff time is presumed to be noon Eastern Time.

Without further ado, here it is !

WEEK ZERO

SATURDAY

SMU @ Nevada (8:00 PM ET)

The Mustangs make their ACC debut! What about FSU-Georgia Tech, you ask? Well, you can’t actually drive to Dublin, can you? So enjoy the only other Power Five game that week!

WEEK ONE

THURSDAY

Murray State @ Missouri (8:00 PM ET)

I promise the games get better.

FRIDAY

Elon @ Duke (7:30 PM ET) (14 hours from Columbia)

Yes, you’ll want to drive 14 hours over the span of 24 hours. Settle in, folks.

SATURDAY

Clemson vs. Georgia (Noon ET) (6 hours from Durham)

Miami @ Florida (3:30 PM ET) (5 hours from Atlanta)

Georgia State @ Georgia Tech (8:00 PM ET) (5 hours from Gainesville)

You’ll want to walk up at the crack of dawn to drive from Durham to Atlanta. Clemson at Georgia will be the first major anticipated game in the season! The atmosphere will be electric! Sit down, watch one play, and then immediately leave to drive to Gainesville.

You should arrive around halftime in the Miami/Florida game. What a storied rivalry, in one of the toughest and loudest home atmospheres in college football! Sit down, watch a few plays, and immediately start the drive back to Atlanta.

You’ll arrive back in Atlanta around 10 PM ET, to the in-progress Georgia Tech game. Watch the rest of the game to your heart’s content!

MONDAY

Boston College @ Florida State (7:30 PM)

You get all of Sunday to recuperate (LSU/USC in Vegas is too far) and make the short drive down to Tallahassee.

WEEK TWO

Texas @ Michigan (Noon ET)

Iowa State @ Iowa (3:30 ET) (6.5 hours from Ann Arbor)

Yep, we’re doing this again. Watch a play of the Texas/Michigan game, and then drive like a madman to Iowa City, where you arrive just in time to watch the final hour of the Cyhawk game (not counting the 4 overtimes).

WEEK THREE

THURSDAY

Arizona State @ Texas State (7:30 PM)

FRIDAY

UNLV @ Kansas (7:00 PM) (11 hours from San Marcos)

Arizona @ Kansas State (8:00 PM ET) (2 hours from Kansas City)

SATURDAY

Colorado @ Colorado State (7:30 PM ET) (8 hours from Manhattan)

BYU @ Wyoming (9:00 PM ET) (1 hour from Fort Collins)

Arizona, ASU, BYU and Colorado were by far the hardest teams to plan around, and the stars align this weekend thanks to a bunch of fortuitous away games at G5 opponents.

WEEK FOUR

FRIDAY

Stanford @ Syracuse (7:30 PM ET)

SATURDAY

Kent State @ Penn State (TBD) (4 hours from Syracuse)

AUDIBLE: Kansas @ West Virginia (TBD) (3 hours from Happy Valley)

Penn State is the only required game this Saturday, but if you manage to get to Morgantown, you can skip the Kansas game the previous week.

WEEK FIVE

SATURDAY

Oklahoma @ Auburn (TBD)

Georgia @ Alabama (7:30 PM ET) (2.75 hours from Auburn)

You can also hit up Miami on Friday night and get Virginia Tech if you’re a madman and feel like driving through the night.

WEEK SIX

SATURDAY

Pitt @ North Carolina (TBD)

Wake Forest u/NC State (TBD) (30 minutes from Chapel Hill)

Way too easy to pass up. Ole Miss @ South Carolina and Boston College @ UVA are also drivable distances this day if you want.

WEEK SEVEN

Purdue @ Illinois (TBD)

Washington @ Iowa (TBD) (3.75 hours from Champaign)

Could be another instance of watching a single play and immediately leaving depending on TV times. But the important thing is just to catch Washington when they leave the West Coast.

WEEK EIGHT

THURSDAY

Boston College @ Virginia Tech (7:30 PM ET)

FRIDAY

Oregon @ Purdue (8:00 PM ET) (8 hours from Blacksburg)

SATURDAY

UCLA @ Rutgers (TBD) (12 hours from West Lafayette)

USC @ Maryland (TBD) (3 hours from Piscataway)

This is doable with an overnight drive of course, but a reasonable expectation is that neither of the Saturday games will be scheduled for 9 AM Los Angeles time, so this should be more manageable than it looks. You can potentially skip the Purdue game if the game times for Week 12 are available, but that’s unlikely, so stock up on Red Bull.

WEEK NINE

SATURDAY

Texas Tech @ TCU (TBD)

Oklahoma State @ Baylor (TBD) (1.25 hours from Fort Worth)

LSU @ Texas A&M (TBD) (1.5 hours from Waco)

Utah @ Houston (TBD) (1.5 hours from College Station)

Now, if you look closely, we’re actually cheating a little here. If ALL the Texas games are at the same time, and you’re required to drive to every single one in succession, the entire thing takes 4 hours and some change. So really the assumption here is that the networks aren’t idiots and aren’t going to schedule three Texas Big 12 contests at the same exact time.

WEEK TEN

SATURDAY

Ole Miss @ Arkansas (TBD)

Only one required game this week, enjoy! Although feel free to hit up Arizona State @ Oklahoma State or Maine @ Oklahoma

WEEK ELEVEN

FRIDAY

California @ Wake Forest (8:00 PM ET)

SATURDAY

South Carolina @ Vanderbilt (TBD) (7 hours from Winston-Salem)

Mississippi State @ Tennessee (TBD) (3 hours from Nashville)

Keep in mind the additional 3-hour drive is only necessary in the worst case scenario, that Vandy kicks at noon and Tennessee at 7:30. More likely, you’ll be able to hit up Knoxville on your way to Nashville.

WEEK TWELVE

SATURDAY

Ohio State @ Northwestern (TBD)

Virginia @ Notre Dame (3:30 PM ET) (2 hours from Chicago)

AUDIBLE: Oregon @ Wisconsin (TBD) (2.5 hours from Chicago)

Hitting all three at once is impossible if they’re scheduled at the same time, but if either of the Big Ten games are announced as a primetime or Big Noon kickoff game, you can skip the insane Purdue-to-Rutgers drive earlier in the season.

WEEK THIRTEEN

FRIDAY

Purdue @ Michigan State (8:00 PM ET)

SATURDAY

UCF @ WVU (TBD) (6.5 hours from East Lansing)

Indiana @ Ohio State (TBD) (3 hours from Morganstown)

If you’re a madman you can also attend a Georgia Tech game on Thursday and then drive 12 hours. But that’s ridiculous, of course. Let’s stick to the safer scenarios, like driving through the night in West Virginia

WEEK FOURTEEN

FRIDAY

Minnesota @ Wisconsin (12 PM ET)

Nebraska @ Iowa (7:30 PM ET) (3 hours from Madison)

For the record, it is complete BS that the Egg Bowl got moved off Thanksgiving, I was counting that.

SATURDAY

TCU @ Cincinnati (TBD) (7 hours from Iowa City)

Louisville @ Kentucky (TBD) (1.5 hours from Cincy)

That’s all, folks!
