At my engagement party last month, I got into a conversation with my future sister in law about kids after the wedding. I was saying I don’t think I would ever feel comfortable having kids of my own, (I have fears about PPD and pssing on mental health issues to a child) but my partner and I have talked about fostering or potentially adopting in the next five years.
She immediately started pointing out all of the issues with fostering, how children come with different needs, and that it’s too difficult. Also, as the only boy in the family, it’s my partners duty to have a child to continue the family’s name.
TBH I was pretty furious, but I just responded with “someone’s got to do it” and left it at that.
I just can’t get over her audacity. She was a staunch Trumper and I know their very catholic family doesn’t support abortion. Why do these people never care about the child after it’s born though? I will never understand.
