I just watched the pilot of Industry and was quite surprised when a show that billed itself as being about 5 young people working for a bank killed what seemed to be one of those five people in the pilot.

I know it started before Gen V, but it brought to mind watching the pilot for that when Golden Boy commits suicide. Especially when he was being played by an actor who has such a prominent father.

I think it’s a really smart way to get a twist past modern viewers as so much pre-release media dives deeper and deeper into upcoming shows. Have any other shows done something similar you guys can think of? Not meaning Six Feet Under or other shows where a character’s death is the catalyst for the show, but actually killed someone featured as an ongoing character in pre-release media in the pilot.
