While watching Bad Monkey today, actor Meredith Hagner spawned one of those “where do I know you from?” instances for me, and after a lot of brain combing, I realized she was not only in Search Party (fun show btw), but also played the daughter in Lights Out a show I really enjoyed back in 2011. It only had one season, and it was cancelled.
Got me thinking that I should probably give that show another go, as I remember it quite fondly. Then as the brain does, I started cataloguing other shows that I love that only had one season. I quickly came up with the following:
• Terriers (2010) - Quirky dark comedy/crime/thriller detective show. I’ve rewatched this one a number of times, it’s such a great show, and I’m still dumbfounded it got canned.
• Lights Out (2011) - Retired boxer adjusts to life after the ring. I recall eagerly awaiting every new episode. I’m due for a rewatch.
• Quarry (2016) - Drama/thriller from an executive producer on Banshee (lol check my flair) so I was game from day one. I really liked it at the time, haven’t seen it since it aired.
Then I just went blank. Are there other one hit wonder shows out that are worth watching? Obviously there are, so please chime in. There’s something so satisfying about a show that’s one and done, where you don’t need to commit a large amount of time to achieve a satisfying outcome.
Honourable mention to Heroes (2006) lol, in my world, only the amazing first season exists.
