Dead Boy Detectives is a fun and campy “mystery” series on Netflix.

The set up is two ghosts of young men around 16 years old but dead 100 years and 40 years run the Dead Boy Detectives agency in London. The agency is to solve mysteries for ghosts.

First episode they meet a medium, 20ish woman, who can see them. She joins the agency and the 3 of them work together the rest of the series. She talks to them but no one else can see them, so people think she’s crazy. The usual person talking to ghost schtick.

The characters have the constant chatter and interplay like the Scooby Gang in Buffy. There is supposed to be horror and danger but they spend more of their time talking then fighting.

They characters are competent - it is the Buffy “we hunt monsters” and not Scooby Doo “we run from monsters”. It has the “figure out what kind of monster we are dealing with and then how to defeat them” feel that Buffy and Angel had.

Each episode is its own investigation but it has an overarching story as well.
