I know she left “Cheers” because she wanted to move on, she was having some success in Film with Outrageous Fortune and The Money Pit, and she was in her mid-30s, which meant it was her last chance before she faced ageism in her career.
Still, I do wonder if her alleged tense relationship with the cast played a part with her leaving. She wasn’t happy about Kelsey Grammer getting her funnier lines or the livelier, more relaxed mood on the set.
She could have come back, though I suspect she didn’t because her return would be seen as a failure on her part.
