[McIntire] Thought Bo Nix’s debut was really rough. Main issue is he showed no pocket awareness and looked like an inexperienced 21 year old QB. This is a thread.

  • Clean drop vs 3 Cloud here. He makes the right read into the soft spot, albeit late. However, instead of stepping into this as you’d expect a QB of his experience (and age) he completely abandons his platform and throws unbalanced completely unforced. This is a clean pocket.
  • Again, what the hell man. This is a standard rip 3 coverage from 2-high pre-snap. Absolutely no rhythm, cadence, or hitch at the top of his drop. He then bails the pocket straight into a defender. Like, this is what Anthony Richardson’s detractors think he consistently does.
  • [This is just basic quarters. There’s nothing intricate. Nix finds a guy and it’s a positive play but he bails a clean pocket straight into pressure. Real scary stuff from a 24 year old rookie.](]
  • Country cover 3. Bland and again screams preseason. Corner to top is playing off, but throw lacks any oomf and is inside and under thrown. There was pressure but this is a limitation on display. Limitations are fine if you excel in the technical areas (ala Purdy). Nix isn’t.
