Look at all the schools UCF has never beaten, most of which because they’ve never played but still interesting to see. The AP poll just came out and I was quite surprised to see that UCF didn’t receive any votes. I think they’re going to be good this year and contend in the Big 12, but I suppose everyone is focused on Utah, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State, but UCF is a team to look out for. UCF has a whole slew of new opponents in their second year in the Big 12 and they play all four of the PAC 12 newcomers.

I don’t think it would be overstating it to say that this season is the most exciting in UCF history, or at least has the most potential. I know they have the “national championship” season but at the beginning no one saw that coming and even when it did happen nothing came out of it. This year they are in the Big 12 and poised to contend for the conference championship which means a guaranteed spot in the CFP. I think UCF has a real shot this year with KJ Jefferson under center but it’s not going to be easy.

New Hampshire and Sam Houston will be easy. I think we can all agree on that. TCU will be tough and could provide UCF with their first loss especially with the game being on the road but I still like UCF. I also think the Colorado game will be tougher than the first two games but not by a whole lot and just like everyone else on Colorado’s schedule, UCF will bring their A game when Coach Prime comes to town. UCF could be the team to send Billy Napier packing if they beat Florida which I think they have a decent chance at doing. UCF has been a thorn in Florida’s side for a while now and UF is probably eager to exact revenge for that bowl game loss to UCF a couple years ago but UCF will be eager to prover they’re not little brother in the state. The game will be in the swamp so it’ll be tough but I can see this game going either way. Still, a win probably sends Billy packing because I don’t see how Florida stomachs a loss to an in-state team who they perceive to be inferior.

Cincinnati is another mini rivalry dating back from UCF’s days in the AAC although this matchup isn’t nearly the same and the rivalry might be dead. Iowa State on the road could pose a threat too. Gus Malzahn is usually good for some head scratching losses and I don’t know if this would count since Iowa State is decent, but this could be a struggle for UCF. I don’t see BYU or Arizona in the Bounce House being too much of a threat, but you never know in the Big 12. Arizona State has seen better days so I think UCF takes care of them too.

UCF ends their season with their two hardest opponents on their schedule. A road trip to West Virginia won’t be easy and that game could have big ramifications for the Big 12, but if UCF wins they still have to get past Utah. When Utah traveled to play UF two years ago humidity was a big factor but that won’t be the case in late November. This could be a very underrated game over rivalry weekend and probably one worth checking out. It should be an exciting year for UCF and I think they will easily be in the top 5 of the Big 12 this year. I put their floor at 6-6 although a 6-6 record might bring out Chicken Little among UCF fans, but their ceiling is 10-2 which depending on those two losses might be good enough for them to earn a spot in the Big 12 championship game.
