Is this a human trafficking tactic?

I am a female in my early 20s. This happened to me a few months ago but it dawned on me recently that this might’ve been something more nefarious than I initially thought.

This happened in broad daylight in a somewhat crowded parking lot. I was loading groceries in the trunk my car when I spotted a young woman and a young man, they looked to be in their 20s, in business attire walking on the other side of the parking lot from where I was. The young woman parted ways with the guy, while he kept walking forward, the young woman approached me from behind.

She said “excuse me?” and as I turned around she asked if I was familiar with the area, she told me not to worry and that she wasn’t lost. Already being defensive, I didn’t want to volunteer any unnecessary information so I just said “kind of”. She proceeded to tell me that she owns a few offices in the area and wanted to know if I or anyone I knew was interested (in work I’m guessing?). I said no and she walked away.

I really didn’t think anything of this after it happened, but I obviously thought that the interaction was odd. After giving it further thought, some things don’t add up, like why wouldn’t she tell me what type of business she owns if she was genuinely recruiting people for work? Had I really given this interaction more thought, I would’ve reported it.

Does this seem like a human trafficking tactic? I can’t find anything online about it.
