In the pantheon of “shows you never hear people talk about”, this is easily nr. 1 for me.

Honest to god, i don’t know how this show didn’t get more popular over time or while being aired.

The show presents itself initially as an edgy/dark comedic take on this dysfunctional couple, but it’s so much more. The show manages to genuinely have the best depiction of depression and PTSD i’ve seen from any TV show, while never becoming too pessimistic or asking you to pity the characters.

It instead smartly weaves between belly-laugh inducing zingers and high dramatic moments, with some fantastic writing. Chris Geere’s Jimmy rants are some of the best rants around and i could watch a superclip of his insane takes on things for hours on end.

That’s not to mention the absolutely fantastic cast of Aya Cash and Chris Geere that have so much spark and play off each others characters so well. But to be honest, i think Desmin Borges and Kether Donahue’s characters of Edgar and Lindsay hard carry the show despite being “side” characters.

Other reoccurring characters such as Shitstain and Sam just make it so much more funny and round out the comedy moments.

The show’s characters show some of the best character growths and developments around over its 5 seasons, and manages to somehow still nail the landing in delivering such a wonderful closure for these characters.

If you enjoy bits of dark humor without it being too edgy, just enjoy great character growths, or just want to laugh then this is such a great show.
