WE’RE GOING THROUGH EACH P4 TEAM’S SCHEDULE AND PICKING EVERY GAME.

Today we have the Texas Longhorns.

2 of the best defensive tackles are gone to the NFL along with some explosive offensive talent, but Texas returns enough key pieces in 2024 to be among the favorites for the national title. The thing is… they now have to go through the SEC to get there.

Ewers is back and QB and Arch Manning should be a value added backup if called into duty, but there are questions regarding how explosive this offense will be after the losses to the to the NFL and recent injuries in the backfield. Certainly the D-Line will take a step back, but the questions is whether or not that step back is still elite or just great.

What is this team’s record going to the fairgrounds? It can only be 5-0 or 4-1 (anything else would be declared a national emergency) With Georgia coming to Austin the next week, it’s will be necessary for Texas to beat one of Michigan or Oklahoma. I’d normally say they have a better shot against the Sooners on a neutral field but that game is never normal and the team that is supposed to win doesn’t always do so.

I really do think the clash against Georgia in mid October could be one of the biggest games and best scenes in recent CFB memory. I have both teams being undefeated but if I’m wrong this could be a must win for both sides to stay relevant in the SEC championship discussion.

I don’t even have time to talk about the back half of the schedule that features a finale at Kyle Field, but I could see that being to most toxic of environments between two teams that both haven’t been eliminated from a trip to Atlanta or a spot in the CFP.

I see a floor of 8-4 given the strength of their top opponents but 12-0 is certainly in the cards.

How do you see it?
