It was a science fiction cop show but so much more than that, it dealt with themes of culture, immigration, culture clash racism and bigotry, the show was adapted from the movie of the same name and dealt with an alien ship that crashes it was a large colony ship. The show was a ratings hit for FOX but the problem was it was really expensive to produce and despite having good ratings for the network in 1989 FOX was still trying to make waves and most of the country just didn’t get the network only some major cities got it or if you had some kind of dish. My area didn’t get FOX until they scored a major deal to carry NFL games in the 90s. The network was also suffering from low ad revenue income so the show was cancelled. But the network did make up for this when in the mid 90s they aired a series of five TV films over a few years. Alien Nation was also aired repeatedly on Sci FI channel throughout the 90s. It was a solid TV show well written
