I’m using a throwaway account because people at my job have found my Reddit account.
I’m a server at a restaurant and tonight I had a table of three very pretty young women. One of them, asked about a coworker of mine, if he was single, and if she could leave him her number. I said, “sure! He’s a sweetheart.”
He’s a very attractive guy, so I said to my manager about it in passing, “how many numbers does that make it now for him? 10?”
And he said, “yeah but she looks like trouble. Like potential domestic violence. She looks like the kind of girl that’ll provoke you to hit her.”
I was pretty shocked in the moment, and I laughed it off.
I’m mad at myself for laughing it off, but he’s my manager that already doesn’t like me and has been picking on me non stop lately.
In what world did he think that was an appropriate thing to say to his female employee?
By the way, I’ve dealt with domestic violence before, so it triggered me. What did I do to “provoke” my ex? I tried to get out of his car when we were having an argument. It happened twice.
