Was just rewatching Chainsaw Man season 1 and my god I did not get in my first watch that how tragic Himeno’s Character was. She lived in depression because of the work she chose. She visited her dead partners’ grave every month. To make it more tragic, she did not had any reciprocation in terms of feelings she had towards Aki. And the way all of this impacted her that she had to drink like crazy and had to molest a teenager to vent about all of she was going through which was obviously very uncomfortable as it was unfolding and how slow that episode was going but this was her being most vulnerable. And in the end she gave her life for Aki knowing how similar they both are and that she’ll be remembered in his memories and tears since she never had the kind of connection she had with him even if it was just one-sided. And even that didn’t matter even after her giving her all, the ghost devil got swallowed by Snake devil instantly.
This only happened over 4 episodes of a 12 episode show which a lot of you might not consider “short-lived” but I have read further in the manga and insane shit happens compared to what we saw in the 1st season of the anime that we even forget Himeno existed as a character and that too this well written. It’s just crazy to me.
