I posted about Baywatch earlier this year after binging the whole show. A few people suggested that I had missed Son of the Beach, which is basically a parody of Baywatch. I took the time to watch it this summer and found it funny. The jokes and humor are really wild, especially for the early 2000s. I wasn’t a fan of the entire cast at first, but they all became decent by the end.
The first season is the best. It’s really great, with cleverly written episodes and funny jokes. The second season is a bit weaker but still watchable. The third season is a lot weaker because an attractive actress’ pregnancy led FX to hire another thin woman to play a lifeguard to keep male viewers. So, they had to fire one of the actors who was a funny part of the show, which disappointed me, and the one they hired was easily the worst part of the show. Still, it had some good episodes, but the parts with the new actress were extremely unwatchable. Sadly, the last scene ended with cliffhangers since it was cancelled unexpectedly due to a management change.
Lynne Marie Stewart, who plays Charlie’s mom from Always Sunny, is also in a few episodes, where she plays a perverted lesbian and groomer. And, she was hilarious!
