I followed college football intensely in the aughts, when Boise State and Fresno State were the most spunky mid-majors in CFB. Remember any place, any time?
I wish one of the power conference had added them. The TCUs and L’villes of the world were sometimes looking up at those programs before darting ahead.
The only bright side of their predicament is that they clearly have the best foundation of the mid-majors and could rotate between themselves as the G5 playoff representative once they get back to the level they once reached.
If those two teams are added to a power conference, I wonder if the powers would feel more justified in removing the G5 autobid. I can’t find one non-Boise mid-major that has made multiple trips to a BCSNY6 bowl in this century.
