Do you prefer shows with season (or episode) long story arcs, or do you prefer shows where each episode is self contained?
I personally much prefer serialized shows, Television is a medium where stories can be told over many hours and episodes, so why not take advantage of it.
I enjoy a season long arc where the characters grow, it encourages me to keep on watching episode by episode.
In the old days, the main disadvantage of serialized shows was that if you missed an episode on tv, then you couldn’t follow the plot. With the advent of streaming and the internet, this argument doesn’t really hold as much water. Indeed it seems like a lot of new shows have become far more serialized than the days of cable television.
