This will come as a surprise to absolutely no one but for Iowa State fans it is easily Iowa. They are no doubt our biggest rival and they win more times than I’d prefer.
But it’s not even really just the loss, it’s HOW we lose, and it’s always the same recipe each year.
People meme about Iowa’s offense and rightfully so, but the fact of the matter is, football has three key components: offense, defense, and special teams. Iowa happens to be phenomenal on defense and special teams.
Iowa’s offense may go nowhere, but they always have some out-of-this-world punter who will pin you deep. Their defense will force either a 3 and out or a turnover and score based on field position alone.
Each time we play Iowa, I absolutely dread it because I know it’s going to be an ugly game to watch.
