The other day somebody made a post about “creator’s pets”, but sometimes the opposite happens. Sometimes the writers end up not liking a character they created, or don’t like a character another writer created, or don’t like a character that was mandated by the higher-ups that they’re now forced to write for, or they end up not liking the actor. Writers will then make this disdain clear by portraying the character more negatively, giving them less screentime, or just plaing writing them out first chance they get.
For example, Pierce Hawthorne from Community was entertaining enough, but Chevy Chase was a huge pain to work with, after he quit they killed Pierce off and did everything they could to insult the character (which works well enough in-universe since Pierce was a racist asshole). In the first season of House M.D., the writers were forced by executives to include a “villain” in a medical show, so they created some guy called Vogler, a hospital administrator who wanted to get rid of House; good ratings gave the writers the leeway they needed to convince the higher-ups they didn’t need Vogler so he was written out.
So what other examples are there of characters whose writers disliked them?
