Basically I just wanted to discuss the trope itself as something that I found interesting was that particular trope itself as I was reading about infamous cases in TV shows where the writers would keep on using a maligned character that despite heavily maligned, was still used by them anyway.

To provide an example, I would like to mention the infamous Wesley Crusher character from Star Trek TNG because for a good while in the series run, he was so widely maligned by fans of the show, yet he still continued to make appearances on the series anyway as from what I know about him, the writing staff would keep finding ways to use him into the plot.

And it even got to a point where his actor Wil Wheaton detested playing the role, but again like I said, the team behind TNG kept using Crusher for a good while longer anyway.
