Original Title: Anyone else completely blown away by Inside No. 9 (a British series with Twilight Zone, Black Mirror vibes)? IMHO this incredible show should be at least as popular as the other two stateside, but it’s not.
Never heard of this show 'til last month, despite watching what I thought was a decent share of British TV. I think a few of the episodes do have some references to British media so the jokes might be lost to the rest of us. Regardless, it’s a minor quibble. This is a remarkable show, maybe the show of the decade, with incredible writing, acting, and execution.
It’s the most well written, creative show I’ve seen in ages and should easily be in the same must-watch tier as classic Twilight Zone and the best of Black Mirror.
Fans of mind-benders, thrillers, dark comedy and/or psychological horror should definitely check this out. Not only is each self-contained episode brilliantly plotted, the way they film several of the episodes is exceptionally creative. Stellar acting, and very entertaining dark comedy to boot.
Personally, my love affair with the show began AFTER season 1, which was good, but I felt everything really got kicked up a notch starting season 2 imho. Since the episodes are self contained, you can watch them in any order, anyhow (aside from the very final episode, Season 9 ep 6).
Edit: for those in the US, you can find the first 3 seasons on Kanopy (your library’s streaming service) for free, then up to season 8 on Britbox. Season 9 is only available on BBC’s iplayer, I believe.
