One of my friends and I (both mid 20s female) are going to see a movie. On the tickets it said the seats were “cuddle chairs” so I made a joke about cuddle time and she asked why I made it gay. She then said if two women cuddle, it’s gay. Always. What? Not even touching on the fact that her comment implied there’s something wrong with being gay, I just don’t understand this mindset.
Obviously I know it depends on the friendship dynamic and the individuals. Some people don’t like to be touched. Some people feel that’s more intimate. She’s not a friend I would touch a lot because that’s not our dynamic. But I have girl friends that I would or have cuddled with and neither of us are even remotely attracted to women. Lots of women have friends they change in front of, go to the restroom together, have sleepovers, braid each others hair, etc.
Am I in the minority here? Am I crazy to think that not all physical contact between women should be automatically labeled as gay?
