WE’RE GOING THROUGH EACH P4 TEAM’S SCHEDULE AND PICKING EVERY GAME.
Today we have the Oklahoma Sooners.
In year 3, Brett Venables is coming off a 10 win season and feels like he finally has his guys in place at Oklahoma. Unfortunately he’s headed into a loaded SEC with a difficult schedule and only a 7.5 win total. Vegas seems to be down on the Sooners in 2024.
Jackson Arnold takes the reins of an offense whose biggest question is on the OL, which will make or break them in the SEC. We’ll know how much it will hurt them before the end of September as the open their SEC tenure hosting Tennessee and traveling to Auburn. If they get through that 2-0, then I have supreme confidence in their ability to hit the over.
The back half of the schedule is where the real hits come, road trips to Ole Miss, Missouri, and LSU, hosting Alabama, and of course the Red River Shootout. I look at the closer at LSU as the critical matchup in 2024. If the OL is indeed a weakness, LSU is a team that I don’t see being able to exploit it, however a night game in Baton Rouge is a tall task.
With how difficult the schedule is, I don’t see any more than 10 wins but I don’t see a way this team misses a bowl. 8-4 even feels conservative. 9-3 feels more likely than 7-5.
How do you see it?
