I was going through some statistics about cheating and found that a larger proportion of people see a Married Man cheating as unequivocally morally wrong than a Married Woman and was interested to get opinions on this. Any idea why that is? Acknowledgement of the dynamics of Patriarchy? Infantilization of women? Something else?
| Having an affair is morally wrong for a … | Married Woman | Married Man |
|---|---|---|
| Men | 53% | 61% |
| Women | 56% | 70% |
| Caucasian Women | 56% | 71% |
| Black Women | 63% | 65% |
| Hispanic Women | 53% | 73% |
| Women with high school of less | 61% | 75% |
| Women with some college | 57% | 69% |
| Women with a college degree | 54% | 71% |
| Women with Post-Graduate degree | 45% | 58% |
The complete data for men sees a similar trend but with a narrower gap.
