At SoCon media days, commissioner Michael Cross made a comment about NCAA divisions. He said the NCAA director met with the conference commissioners regarding the establishment of a new division for the P4 schools. The SoCon and several other commissioners voted overwhelmingly in approval of the formation of a new division with its own governing body and rules.
