I have 10yo identical twin boys. They look so much alike that they even have the same mole on their left cheek. Their personalities are very similar and the best clue to determine who’s who is that Adam is obsessed with his hair whereas Kody doesn’t.

I fully admit that sometimes I can’t tell the difference and will ask an indirect question to see which twin is which. Both of them realized this and tried pretending to be each other, causing trouble and then blaming the other twin. Therefore I can’t punish both for one kid’s wrongdoing.

I flipped the script by waiting for them to switch roles and then punishing them for something that the other twin did (something i know 110% and they can’t deny). For example, Adam hasn’t kept up with his summer homework so I waited for Kody to pretend to be him. Then I ground him from playing electronics.

That quickly ended that nonsense. When they admit they were pretending to be each other, I pretend that I didn’t know and ground both of them for lying.

My wife thinks it’s fucked up and unfair and it’s “entrapment.”
