Been seeing this guy for a bit, and he told me he’s going on a motorcycle trip soon. That’s pretty rad.
We were hanging out and he asked me for a “favor” - would I help him find a hotel.
I started looking up places on Google. I was naming prices, asked him how many nights, how far from freeways does he want to be, does he want continental breakfast included, etc. Then I stopped and was like WTF am I doing???
I’m not paying for this trip, or even going on it. What exactly does he need my help with? Why can’t can’t he book his hotel???
I said that last paragraph to him out loud. He said he didn’t realize it was a “big favor” and said he’d find something. We moved on.
I’m glad I realized what happened in the moment and said something to him. I’m proud that I’m not realizing this weaponized incompetence after the fact.
I’m not kicking him to the curb for this transgression, but it is noteworthy. I’ll see if there’s a pattern of bullshit like this before getting more serious.
