I’m listening to Sirius XM’s coverage of B1G Media Days, and they’re interviewing Danielson. He’s talking about how he loves college football, has so many great memories.

References a game between Northwestern and Michigan, a high scoring game, “Northwestern put up 49 points but they didn’t have the talent to score over 40 on Michigan. Michigan won but Northwestern played hard. (Rick Neiuheisel interrupts to point out Northwestern introduced Michigan to the zone read in this game) As the game ends, Northwestern star RB Damien Anderson is despondent in the end zone because the Wildcats lost. Several Michigan players come over and put their arms around Anderson to console him, telling him: ‘You kicked our butts out there today.’ It was just a great moment of sportsmanship, I love moments like that.”

The problem with the story: It’s complete fantasy.

First of all, Northwestern WON that 2000 game he’s referring to 54-51, the game is notorious because it was such a high-scoring game and because the Wildcats upset the #12 Wolverines.

It is also a well-known game because Northwestern doesn’t beat Michigan very often, and Danielson can’t even give the Wildcats credit for one of their biggest wins in the series.

The ‘moment of sportsmanship’ where the Michigan players consoled a despondent Anderson never happened, Anderson was celebrating because Northwestern won.

Anderson rushed for over 2000 yards that season and was a consensus All-American. Northwestern finished the year 8-3, then were bulldozed by Nebraska in the Alamo Bowl, 66-17.

Danielson also said Jalen Hurts ‘froze up’ and ‘forgot how to play QB’ at Alabama in 2017, and ‘needed to take a year off’ before he ‘came back and saved Tua in the SEC championship game against Georgia’ in 2018.

I usually dislike Danielson because he can’t STFU about Alabama regardless of who is playing on CBS, but this is ridiculous. He’s spinning outright fantasies as actual football history now.
