Isn't already a crime to attack anyone unprovoked? Do we need a specific law making it illegal to beat up Asians and Pacific Islanders, when it's already illegal to do so?
And if this law adds stiffer penalties for hurting Asian-Americans, doesn't that violate the principle of equal protection under the law?
