Sometimes a character does something in the first season that, with the hindsight of the whole series, is completely out of character. Not choices they grew and learned from later on, but choices that don’t make sense even when we learn about their history and values. Ron Swanson had quite a few of these.
Last seaso characters make even wilder choices, as the actors get time off for other projects, more input over their plot lines, or the show evolves into something unrecognizable. I think of that huge show everyone was watching, and most of the cast became super famous as a result, with the leader who had an animal-based nickname that just suddenly went insane.
