Shelley Long left Cheers to pursue a film career. Then Kirstie Alley took over as Sam Malone’s female foil. I like both characters. The writing seemed sharper when Diane Chambers was part of Cheers. Rebecca Howe was hard nosed when she first arrived but became more neurotic. However, Rebecca Howe came into her own when Robin Colcort joined the cast. So who do you prefer? Diane Chambers or Rebecca Howe?
