I remember YouTuber BadEmpanada mocked the very concept of measuring poverty as living one or two dollars per day because of its limited practicality. Seriously, you are lucky if two dollars can buy one candy bar at a store in Ohio, let alone New York City. Thus, he suggested a reality TV concept of making think tank pundits and economists live no more than two dollars a day in varying places. This is in the hopes that they would recognize the absurdism in the unit of measurement when experiencing it for themselves. One obstacle is that it would be impossible to gather one, let alone an ensemble, of pundits to sign up for this.
However, upon sharing it with one of my IRL co-workers, he contended that this novel concept would not make for any long run because the novelty would exhaust itself by the end of one season. This would render the concept unlikely to be picked up by a streaming service because streaming services want to maintain the subscribers gathered when the show first airs. Regardless, would you want to check out such a show?
