One major example I find when it comes to this question, is Walter White from Breaking Bad! But I find that with anti-heroes it does make sense that you would stop liking them because the whole point of their character development is that they become more corrupt as the series progresses. But has there ever been a protagonist where they aren’t necessarily suppose to be the “bad guy”, but just did things that constantly got on your nerves?
Otis from Sex Education is a big example of a character I stopped liking, mainly because of how much his character regressed in the final season! I would even go as far as to call him one of the worst TV protagonists of all time because of how ridiculous he was in going through the same lessons and barely learned a thing from the previous seasons. He literally treats everyone like shit, that you feel he deserves his fate at the end where he’s mainly all alone.
It doesn’t feel satisfying to see his story end like that, but at the same time you know he kinda deserves it.
