In terms of teams that were better than their record, the 2021 Nebraska Cornhuskers immediately come to mind. They went 3-9 but had a point differential of 0 against conference opponents despite going 1-8 in conference play. They went 0-6 against ranked opponents, but lost by single digits in all of those games. Another example could be the 2014 Arkansas Razorbacks, who went 2-6 in conference play with their 2 wins being dominant shutouts against ranked teams and 4 of their 6 losses being by 1 score against ranked opponents. For teams worse than their records indicate, 2015 Georgia comes to mind as despite going 10-3, they got obliterated by the only 2 ranked opponents they played and had several close games against really bad teams.
