For any average human, if they were doing something like indulging themselves by going against a local government's policy and getting medicines from abroad for cheaper prices, I wouldn't report them and perhaps speak out on their behalf because they are just indulging in their right to be free from coercion.

But if that same person did not extend you the same courtesy for something you indulge in, like say, gay marriage which goes against your local government and also politically advocates that the government outlaw gay marriage, would you defend that person's rights when they are ousted by the government for buying medicines from abroad?

I mean I wouldn't go ahead and report them because I don't want to go through the trouble of dealing with the government but would I be upset that that person's liberties are being eroded? You bet fucking not.

I think we all ought to be real careful when defending our positions on liberties. If someone would throw you under the bus given the chance, don't bend over backwards and defend them when they are screwed over.

I consider myself a principled libertarian more or less but malicious compliance is also something I like.
