Hope you’re doing well.
This is a tricky question to ask because breaking new ground is practically impossible these days (so you have to go back a bit and perhaps before your time) but since TV has been around for around a century now I’m curious to discuss with you lot about your favorite “firsts” and also examples of this they you’ve seen in your years of watching TV shows.
When I saw Carol and Susan as a lesbian couple on Friends, I remember not thinking much of it because I thought it was cool that two people love each other, but I’ve since heard that this depiction was the first ever overt example of two characters of the same gender being married. (Please, correct me if I’m wrong).
What are your favorite “firsts” of any kind in TV history that should be considered as rightfully iconic and what are your thoughts on these moments in general as a fan of the particular show?
