I have gotten all the way up to episode 2 of season 2 before finally giving up in exasperation…
This show is really, really mediocre. Horrendously slow and dull. I have points to make, not just empty insults
FIRST THE POSITIVES
- The acting, and some elements of production, like fight scenes and sound design (sound designed snapped actually good job) and music, are really good. Thats all i will give this show.
NOW THE NEGATIVES
- The dialogue is utterly stiff, humorless, and soap opera-y. It can sometimes feel like … just a quick feeling … that im watching Bridgerton. No shame to Bridgerton’s fans. But Bridgerton is supposed to be light and fun. This is not supposed to feel like that. Thin, stiff, to the point dialogue. Nothing clever.
- The pacing is so insanely off. Nevermind them time jumping in episode 6 of season 1 and replacing ALL. The. FAMILIAR. FACES. ??? That was an insane decision. The amount of flaccidity i felt then, iv never ever felt watching any show before. Faces mean something you know. A characters tendencies and an actor’s portrayal of them means something. The two time jumps in season 1 really throw a wrench into things. Introducing so many babies per episode i lost count. And did they even properly show Aegon and his sister getting married? Suddenly the kids of allicent are married and i have no idea when. So, so bad.
- It is impossible to care for the characters 🥹 except for Allicent and Rhaenyra. They have moments. The show built them up correctly. The history. The ties, the social web between them. Theres stakes ffs. Everyone else, completely uninteresting, not just unlikeable. Just i don’t care stamped on all of their flat faces.
- Show is so dark whoever was responsible should be beheaded. Egotistical ass decision probably wanted to stand out. Idiot
- Certain ep in s02—> they just walk into the red keep? Really? The off screen sounds? Even something as gruesome and stupid as that wasnt in the least bit interesting. Executed terribly. No consequences later either. Ugh.
This show is boring and dull and without hype and is paced awkwardly and the dialogue is horrible. People should not watch it so creators get the message. Yeah
