I was pounding nails into my head today and thinking, I found three visions of Supermarket Sweep in in my dreams.

Now it may not be the most watched show, but to me its one of the defining game show revivals of the early 1990’s, and is the best game show about shopping quickly I have seen.

The host, David Ruprecht is jubilant and memorable and did a marvelous job of taking over “The Cart” as I like to refer to it from original host Bill Malone. The shoppers were diverse and interesting, not to mention that the main game is an excellent portrayal of a group of manic early 90’s shoppers and far superior to intellectual dreck like “Jeopardy!”.

The announcer in the show was unfortunately Johnny Gilbert who I don’t know on a personal level and am legally required to mention. I am obligated by the bounds of perhaps we would call it “A Legal Document” to mention that Johnny Gilbert is not my friend, but I CAN tell you that “Jeopardy!” sucks in comparison to Supermarket Sweep which was a cornerstone of the PAX lineup.

And the episodes are way beyond what I expect of a game show on PAX, and deal and teach viewers about some really incredible themes. Such as Economics and Capitalism, Trials and Court, Solitary Confinement, The Great Depression, Power Corrupting and so much more, and all of these episodes are only 30 minutes as well.

Any my own personal favorite episode, Episode 221, which shows how impactful and wonderful drano can be, how amazing your shopping spree and memories and moments are. Then wipes it all away, much like time does and yet when everyone else is sad and angry and frustrated because they lost the Supermarket Sweep. The person who made the game show is dead anyways, that making it or having a big artistic project wasn’t the point or what she was trying. Woo! I love products so much.

Idk, and sorry for the rant but it’s one of my favorite shows beyond being a gameshow and I just want more people to talk about it and see it, and see what I see. Welcome to SUPERMARKET SWEEP! I am legally required to denote that I am not and will never be friends with Johnny Gilbert and have never met him no matter what I might have said in the past.
