Historically, Michigan has had bad luck against UT schools with a combined 0-3 record against them. In their first matchup with a UT school, they lost to Tennessee 45-17 in the 2002 Citrus Bowl. Following that, they lost to Texas 38-37 in the 2005 Rose Bowl. Lastly, they lost to Toledo 13-10 during the 2008 regular season.
This season, Michigan will play Texas in a highly anticipated week 2 matchup. Both teams made the playoffs last season, however Texas is returning significantly more talent and they have their same coach. To Michigan’s credit, they do have the home field advantage and Sherrone Moore had an unblemished record acting as head coach.
