I’ve recently been seeing alot of Prime Time 2000’s British TV Throwbacks on my feeds and noticed the sheer amount of licensed music they used and thinking it just makes the content more engaging and friendly. Shows like “Come Dine with Me”, “You’ve been framed,” “Fat Families” are all consistently using licensed tracks throughout the whole show, with significantly better mixing than what you see from modern shows. Personally I think this really makes the programs more iconic and nostalgic and defining of their era. Like just for some examples, some songs playing that i caught were “Touch the Sky” by KanYe West. “Jerk it Out” by The Caesars, “Golden Brown” by The Stranglers, “Valerie” by Mark Ronson // Amy Winehouse
I’m genuinely curious why modern TV no longer has any music that is recogniseable or iconic, and why they go for generic stock / production music that makes the program feel way more bland.
