As I’m sure many of you know, the classic Muppet Babies cartoon from the 1980s and early '90s used a lot of movie clips or movie footage or TV footage from Iconic movies or TV shows and that has kept the cartoon out of syndicated reruns or prevented it from getting released in its entirety on home media such as DVD and Blu-ray and streaming services as well.
Problems with royalties and licensing the clips or movie footage, TV footage from various different shows or movies, have kept the cartoon out of syndicated reruns and seasonal DVD/Blu-Ray releases and streaming services as well.
As for the Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoon from the 1980s and early '90s, I don’t think we’ve ever gotten a public statement or reason as to why that classic cartoon has been so inaccessible by the public for decades now and why it’s never been released in its entirety on home media and if it has it has always been an extreme scarcity and whenever episodes of the classic cartoon get released on YouTube the episodes either get taken down right away or the episodes end up being severely edited.
For the Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoon of the 1980s and early 90s, I believe me and many people can make a good solid guess, it’s because of music licensing reasons. Because in that classic cartoon they use a lot of cover songs in that show.
If any of these classic cartoons ever does see the light of day on streaming services or home media, which one do you think has a better chance? Muppet Babies or Alvin and the Chipmunks?
