So, I’m not exactly a big X’s and O’s guy, but I’m wondering how Arizona, ASU, Colorado, and Utah will fair against other big 12 teams schematically. I was listening to an On3 podcast about the big 12 teams, and one thing they mentioned is that many of the big 12 teams play a 3-3-5 defense, which limits the passing game. Thus, you will need to have a good running game to have a good offense. Of the 4 newcomers, this would affect Arizona and Colorado the most, since they are probably looking to throw the ball a lot with their great QB and WR play. However, this isn’t a one way street. I can’t speak for ASU, Arizona, or CU, but Utah will almost always have 4 D-lineman, as well as playing a lot of man coverage, often to a fault (against really good passing teams).
