Here is a year-by-year list of the record holder for receiving yards through every number of years played up to 20 years. Current players, helped in part by the new season length and passing-friendly game make up the first four seasons. Puka Nacua owns the rookie record (1,486), and Justin Jefferson dominates through years 2-4. Jefferson needs only 886 yards to take the record through year 5, but will need to average 1,238 over two years to snatch the year six record from Moss.
It’s also eye-opening to see how dominant Torry Holt and Julio Jones were through seven and ten seasons.
Obligatory caveats
- 17-game seasons since 2021, 16-game seasons since 1978, 14-game seasons before that.
- We are in a more passing-friendly era in today’s game
- This might be more meaningful to see it through x number of games instead of x number of years, but that’s a bigger project for another day.
